VPH-NoE Meeting

2011-03-29/30, Hinxton, UK

The technical meeting of the Virtual Physiological Human Network of Excellence (VPH-NoE) took place at the EBI in Hinxton, UK (close to Cambridge), at March 29th and March 30th, 2011. FUSIMO was invited to this meeting as a project funded in call 6 of the VPH initiative. Matthias Guenther attended the meeting and represented FUSIMO in his function as technical coordinator.

The VPH NoE is a project which aims to help support and progress European research in biomedical modelling and simulation of the human body. It is in its last year of funding and therefore, the main focus of the technical meeting was development of strategy and design of the VPH ToolKit, to create a durable basis, which can last beyond the funding period.
Several issues were raised regarding the future design of the VPH Toolkit, among them important questions about the license model to be used (open source vs. commercial interest), data structure (design own data model or use existing structures) and usability of tools.

The meeting was attended by some 50 people mainly from the VPH community. It provided a good insight into VPH-NoE activities and was a good opportunity to introduce FUSIMO to the VPH community.
